Technical: Did You Know ?
Sublimation transfer printing was actually invented in France. In 1957 an employee of the famous French calendar machine builders Lemaire, ironed over a newspaper by accident and found colour stained onto fabric beneath.
This led to research of the inks used by the newspaper printer and finally a whole range of sublimation dyes.
These inks are derived from dispersed dyes and the coloured image is transferred from a carrier paper by careful manipulation of temperature, time and pressure.
